Meetings with Elected Officials
Meetings with elected officials constitute an important part of the JCRC agenda. In recent months, we have met with a number of local officials including state legislators, mayors, county boards of supervisors and city council members. We use these meetings as an opportunity to discuss issues of vital importance to the Jewish community. Our delegations include both community activists and Jewish agency representatives who engage the official in dialogue about political and communal priorities in each respective jurisdiction.
Legislative Affairs
JCRC is actively engaged in legislative and advocacy work around public policy issues of concern to the Jewish community. Legislative affairs may call for coalitions, organizing with another Jewish agency or an outside organization to respond to an issue, creating a program or spear-heading a lobbying effort. Sometimes the necessary response is a letter writing campaign, a letter to the editor from the JCRC, a behind-the-scenes meeting or an action alert to the mainstream and Jewish media.
