Ambassador Asher Naim immigrated to Palestine from Tripoli, Libya in 1944. He has served on diplomatic missions to Kenya, Uganda, Japan, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Finland, Ethiopia, Republic of Korea and the United Nations. During his service as Ambassador of Israel to Ethiopia he was instrumental in negotiations to help Ethiopian Jews fleeing the turmoil of internal war that plagued Ethiopia. Asher Naim was appointed to the UN with the rank of Ambassador in charge of the Third Committee of the United Nations to annul the UN infamous resolution equating Zionism with Racism.
