"I often volunteer and always consider it a mitzvah, but it feels more important when it is part of a Jewish movement. It was wonderful and enlightening. It was great to be around other Jews who felt the same way"

This year, JCRC is very excited to include a new component to the Jewish Volunteer Day at Project Homeless Connect: a Jewish service learning program prepared by the Bureau of Jewish Education. To participate, volunteers are asked to arrive at 8AM to register. You will have the opportunity to gather around common values and share about what brought you to volunteer this day. Rabbi Wolf Prusan will be leading the service.
JCRC mobilizes Jewish community members each year to volunteer their time at Project Homeless Connect. Project Homeless Connect is a national best practice model that originated in San Francisco. Every other month over 1000 community volunteers partner with city government, non-profits and the private sector to provide a one-stop shop of health and human services for homeless San Franciscans. These services include: medical and mental health services, substance abuse counseling, housing, dental benefits, legal help, vision testing, California ID, food, clothing, wheelchair repairs, and more. The ultimate goal of PHC is to provide easy access to services that support the transition of the City's homeless off the streets and into housing. Thank you to the hundreds of volunteers who came out in 2010!
